Position: M&E Officer Job site: Somalia, Middle Shabelle (50-75% of
time) and Nairobi (25%-50% of time). Duration: 6 months - 6 days per week while
in Somalia, 5 days per week while in Nairobi. Probation period: 3 months Reports
to: Health & Nutrition Coordinator – Nairobi. Status: Collaborator/

___________________________________________________________________________ Purpose/objectives:
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant to the Health and
Nutrition Coordinator, engaged for the 50/75% of his/her activities in Somalia
and for the 25/50% in Nairobi, is responsible to support the coordination of
all the health and nutrition activities of INTERSOS by, under the guidance of
the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, supervising and monitoring and locally
evaluating the data collection mechanisms and the implementation strategies. Core
responsibilities:
He/she liaises with the managerial staff
at field level, ensuring that the activities they supervise meet high quality
standards in terms or monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
He/she is in charge of preparing ad hoc
training courses in Nairobi and delivery them to the Somalia’s staff. He/she is
responsible for the correct collection of data by the field staff and ensures
that these data are correctly and timely transferred to the Database Manager.
He/she is also responsible for the empowerment and development of the tools
regarding the collection of data in the field and at hospital level.
Main M&E responsibilities:
He/ she supports, supervises and
coordinates the Field Supervisor – Food and NFIs Distribution and Field
Supervisor – Nutrition and Health in monitoring the work of Health and
Nutrition mobile teams, the MHC Centers and the health posts in the Middle
Shabelle Region (including those that may open in the future in nearby areas)
and one Stabilization Center in Jowhar; particularly with regard of the data
collection mechanism and procedures of intervention.
He/ she supports, supervises and
coordinates the Jowhar Regional Hospital and Jowhar TB Centre senior staff in
monitoring the activities of the Jowhar Regional Hospital (both inpatients
wards and OPD) and of Jowhar TB Centre in terms of data collection, drugs stock
management and other logistic procedures.
He/ she is primarily responsible for:
Gathering regularly (minimum: a weekly basis for outreach activities and twice
a week for Hospital/ TB Centre activities) the data collected by the field
staff/ hospital staff, making sure that this data collection activity is done
in a professional way;
Checking for consistency (i.e. that all
the required information has been correctly reported) all the data collected by
the field staff and by the hospital staff;
Supervising the Database Manager /
Database managers assistants in his/her role of including the information in
the database and transmitting to Nairobi Office the updated version within two
days from the time new information has been made available.
Supervising logistic M&E activities
performed by dedicated hospital staff and transmitting weekly to Nairobi office
an update summarizing the findings of the M&E conducted during the week.
Supervising the Hospital Pharmacy staff
the in the drugs/ medical material stock reporting, making sure that an update
on the current stock/ stock used is transmitted weekly to Nairobi Office. For
the MCHs, reporting on available stock shall be transmitted to Nairobi Office
bimonthly.
He/ she strengthen the currently used
information/data registration system in the field through the implementation of
new tools and instruments, under the supervision of the Area Coordinator. This duty,
finalized to empower the data collection system, will be done jointly with the
staff in Nairobi as well as the staff in the field.
He/ she develops ad hoc health/nutrition
M&E training courses with the staff in Nairobi and trains on M&E issues
the Somalia’s staff.
He/ she collaborates with the field team
staff in performing community awareness sessions / health-nutrition promotion
activities, making sure that the identification of the beneficiaries targeted
is done correctly.
Refers and interfaces with the Nairobi’s staff with regard to the monitoring
and evaluation of the implementation status of all the INTERSOS’ Health and
Nutrition activities and contributes to the effective measurement of the impact
of these activities on the beneficiaries.
Skills and competences: - Somali national (or Kenyan/ Somali), able to work in
the Middle Shabelle Region - Nurse or Nutritionist with proven capabilities
with experience in M&E - Experienced in training staff in M&E in the
context of nutrition and health activities in the field. - Experience in
staging community awareness/ health promotion activities. - Good level of
spoken and written English, Italian a plus. - Attention to details. - Computer
literate (skills: writing and responding to emails and of filling electronic
Excel spreadsheets), with very good skills in database management. TO APPLY:
