The World Food Programme Somalia activities include
food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and
logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.
This position is open to qualified Somali candidates with good
knowledge of the local area.
Female

Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of Head of Programme in Hargeisa Area
Office, the incumbent will be
responsible for the following duties:-

Assist in programme planning by advising the
Head of Nutrition Unit on potential gaps in
programme coverage or overlaps;
·
Participate in bi-annual allocation planning
exercises, drafting of technical guidance notes
and other documents;
·
Review nutrition proposals to ensure technical
compliance with national guidelines and policies;
·
Identify potential Cooperating Partners (CPs)
in liaison with local authorities, UN agencies,
NGOs and community members;
·
Assess the capacity of potential CPs in
implementing nutrition interventions and evaluate
performance of CPs currently
implementing projects;
·
Liaise and stay up to date with other agencies
interventions in nutrition to ensure sound
integration of WFP supported
projects;
·
Participate in field assessment missions;
·
Review monthly distribution plans;
·
Oversee the supply of nutrition related
equipment and consumables and prepare
monthly Non-Food-Item (NFI) stock
reports;
·
Review and oversee timely submission of Cooperating
Partners (CPs) monthly reports;
·
Mentor Food Aid Monitors on qualitative monitoring
of nutrition interventions;
·
Ensure that issues arising from field missions are
addressed and advise management
on the appropriate action;
·
Undertake field monitoring and on-site CP mentoring
visits to ensure compliance with
WFP guidelines and policies;
·
Identify capacity building needs and assist
management to plan for capacity building activities;
·
Contribute to the preparation of training material,
guidelines, Information-
Communication-Education (IEC) material and implementation
tools;
·
Organize and assist in facilitating trainings and
workshops;
·
Represent WFP at the health, nutrition and WASH
cluster meetings and other technical meetings;
·
Prepare weekly status reports and other reports as
required;
·
Maintain close relationship with MOH, UNICEF, FSNAU
and other stakeholders in the nutrition sector;
·
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimal Qualifications:
Education:
|
University degree in Nutrition,
Public Health or a related field.
|
Experience:
|
At least three years of postgraduate
professional experience in nutrition/health
in humanitarian emergencies.
|
Language:
|
Fluency in both oral and written
communication in English and Somali.
|
Knowledge:
|
Experience utilizing
computers, including word processing, spreadsheet
or other WFP software
packages.
Knowledge of nutrition
survey related software
(ENA for SMART, Anthro, Epilnfo) would be an
advantage.
