Warehouse Assistant UNICEF Mogadishu

to apply for the above post of Warehouse Assistant, with UNICEF Somalia, to be
based in Mogadishu.
If successful, you’ll be
part of a dynamic and passionate team in Somalia and Nairobi that works
together to improve the health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, and
basic education of Somali girls and boys and protect them from violence,
exploitation and abuse.
Under the direct
supervision of the Supply & Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible
for taking delivery of all supplies imported, or bought locally, by UNICEF for
Programme and administration purpose. You will also be responsible for storage
and delivery of supplies. This task includes identifying all addresses for ease
of delivery; Responsible for monitoring the flow of supplies in the warehouse
and monitoring closely the difference shelf life of perishable items.
The successful candidate
will be offered a Fixed Term Appointment for one year. Further extensions will
be based on organizational needs, availability of funds and satisfactory
performance.
Major duties and
responsibilities:
1.
Responsible for storage and monitoring of
delivery of all equipment purchased by UNICEF for programme or administrative
use.
2.
Assist in the internal management of the
warehouse. This includes monitoring of the flow of equipment, regular physical
and electronic inventory of supplies, etc…
3.
Responsible for checking the supplies, prior
to official acknowledgment to suppliers or clearing agents, upon receipt and
while in storage to detect any damage, loss or expiry and inform programme
staff regularly.
4.
Responsible for delivery of supplies from
UNICEF warehouse to government counterparts: preparing of supplies, issuing of
a delivery note to be signed by the Government officials etc. Ensure that
documents are properly forwarded and filed for correct closure of file.
5.
Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications,
experience & Skills
Completion of secondary education. Working knowledge of computer Word & Excel
applications. Training in procurement, Logistics administration and Warehouse
Management.
At least three years of experience in the field of warehousing in a
government/UN agency or an NGO.
Proficiency in written and oral English and local language of duty station
required.
